成績発表（秋学期）

こんにちは。

今週はロンドンでは気持ち悪いくらい良い天気が続いております。

さて、今回は、先日公表された秋学期の成績についてお話しします。

秋学期の授業の内容

以前にも少しご紹介したのですが、私が秋学期（去年の10〜12月）に取っていた授業は

Comparative Education: Theory and Method（比較教育：理論と方法）

というもので、１年間の研究活動の基礎となる理論や方法論について学ぶものでした。

秋学期に取っていた授業はこの一つだけで、評価は5,000 wordsのレポート１本勝負です。

題材は、「日本・韓国の2000年代の留学生受入政策に関する考察」というものでした。

これだけの長さの英文を書くのは初めてだったので、締め切り間際までひいひい言いながら書き上げたのですが、手ごたえはあまりなく、提出した後も「これでちゃんと単位もらえんのかな…」と不安に思っていました。

最終成績とフィードバック

と、そんな感じでかなり心配していた成績でしたが、蓋を開けてみれば成績は「B」。

UCLでは、最高の成績がAで、C以上が合格点なので、及第点といったところでしょうか。

（…とかすました感じで言っちゃってますが、結果を見たときには「っっしゃおら！！！」と歓喜の雄叫びをあげたのは言うまでもありません）

レポートには最終成績だけでなく、担当教員からのフィードバックがついてきます。

せっかくなので、以下にその内容を記載します。

Interesting paper aiming to uncover explanatory factors of the difference of inbound international mobility between South Korea and Japan. The paper provides detailed overview of the situation of student mobility in these two countries, and this offers a helpful background to this essay.  Some general factors influencing international student mobility have been  introduced, and the method employed in the analysis (MSSD) has been explained and problematized.  Generally, the essay provides an intelligent discussion. For future improvement, it’s worth noting that there is occasional lack of critical engagement with academic literature, however the argument does come through at the end.  The conclusions and section on ‘The result of MSSD conducted’ could have been strengthened: a more comprehensive  summary of the main line of argumentation, in relation  to  your comparative method employed in the paper, would have strengthened the essay

全部翻訳するとボロが出そうなのでやめときますが、すごくざっくり言えば「研究の概要とか背景となる情報はよく書けてるけど、考察がイマイチ」といったところでしょうか。

まさに痛いところを突かれた…という感じでぐうの音も出ませんが、ひとまず落第せずに済んだということで良しとしようと思います。

今回は、秋学期の授業の成績についてお話ししました。

レポートで取り扱った留学生政策については、修論のテーマにもする予定なので、機会があったら改めて内容をご紹介しようと思います。
